Canon Australia launched three new RF lenses covering a wide range of applications from broadcast and cinema to landscape and travel, to sports and wildlife.

The RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is a hybrid, versatile lens that includes attributes from broadcast, cinema and standard RF lenses. It is the first RF zoom lens to combine a dedicated iris/aperture control ring and Servo functionality via optional power zoom adapters.

It is designed to cater to the increased demand within the professional community for hybrid shoots combining still photo and video content, and makes a good match for news capture, documentaries, corporate work, weddings, events and social media content.

RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z combines the reach of the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, with the low-light capability of the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM – making it unnecessary to choose between these two strengths when planning a shoot. The lens also maintains 5.5-stop optical image stabilisation to ensure image quality – up to 8-stops when combined with in-body image stabilisation – with more stability for handheld movies and images when shooting in dynamic shooting situations such as weddings or events.

The smooth control iris ring for video – with 32 steps between stops (no clicks) and a lock release switch for the 'Auto' position – maintains fine control over changing exposure, paired with an 11-base iris for a beautiful bokeh. The internal zoom operation means the barrel length is constant, which is better for rigging, weather resistance and smooth operation. The lens includes weather sealing for durability, with four UD lenses to correct chromatic aberration. Its electronic parfocal focus capability and focus breathing suppression help maintain a consistent field-of-view when shooting movies.

Compact Ultra-Wide Angle Zoom

For ultra-wide angle photography and videography, the RF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is designed for APS-C EOS R System cameras and has a focal range of 10-18mm, suiting travel, landscape, cityscape and vlogging applications.

The lens delivers up to 4-stops of optical image stabilisation and up to 6-stops when combined with in-body image stabilisation. This gives photographers and video users the ability to shoot handheld with better results, including in low light conditions. High-performing when combined with Movie Digital IS, which reduces camera shake as movies are recorded, it works well for shooting handheld while also going wide and trying fit more in the frame.

Weighing only 150g, this is a small, light lens that travels well and doubles for as a lens for both stills and video content.

Long Reaching RF Telephoto Zoom

RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM is a full-frame super telephoto zoom lens specialised for wildlife and sports photography. With a maximum telephoto focal length reach of 800mm, it is Canon’s longest reaching telephoto zoom lens for the RF mount.

The RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM is reliable in a variety of weather conditions, featuring dust and moisture resistant sealing. Designed for those who want to move closer to the action, this lens helps users capture impressive looking shots from a distance. Its 5.5-stop image stabilisation, up to 7.5-stops combined with EOS R cameras featuring in-body image stabilisation, fast autofocus, focal range and optical construction deliver high quality images and videos, while the zoom has the power to pull small subjects right into the frame. www.canon.com.au
