Media organisations can now use Imagine Communications’ ADC playout automation platform to access and control their broadcast chain remotely. Imagine has added an application, ADC Flex, to the platform that gives existing media workflows an extra level of revenue assurance and business continuity, and helps make more efficient use of staff at remote locations. It also supports new operational models including hub-and-spoke deployments and unified broadcast operations from a centralised broadcast centre.

ADC Flex is flexible and configurable remote control that runs natively in a web browser. It uses existing infrastructure, which keeps the need for training to a minimum, and can either be added to ADC deployments already in place, or used for new facilities and new channel launches.

In a channel playout context, working remotely means updating schedules, taking manual control dynamically and monitoring outputs. With internet access and a secure data connection, operators can use ADC Flex to monitor and control channels, schedule content ingest and manage content from locations including machine rooms, remote sites or home.

ADC automation integrates tightly with Imagine Communications’ Nexio video servers and the Versio integrated playout platform, and establishes a simple upgrade path without risking existing systems. ADC Flex uses the same capabilities and will adapt to changing systems and workflow requirements.

The HTML5 web user interface can be tailored to meet broadcasters’ specific operational demands. For example, the screens can be customised to suit workflow requirements and user preferences, and maintain the same look and feel in different situations. Permissions can be assigned to users and groups, and favourites can be assigned for commonly used layouts.

Its HTML5 build means ADC Flex can run on Windows, MacOS or Linux. Control panels and supervisory screens can also be created for tablets where mobility is required. www.imaginecommunications.com
