EditShare implemented a migration path to the cloud for AMP Creative, transitioning media workflows using FLEX workflow and asset management platform for cloud-based operations.

EditShare workflow

AMP Creative develops corporate learning projects and training packages that use video to create tailored programs for clients. Project types range from traditional video productions to AR/VR experiences, animation, eLearning and virtual instructor-led training.

Part of the company’s business is a growing archive of content and elements, which can be re-used in new projects. At the same time, it needs to support designers working on current projects, allowing them to manage work in progress and create deliverables, as well as securely archiving materials.

For some years AMP Creative has used EditShare storage to manage its media. More recently, the need to implement remote working, largely driven by COVID, and otherwise transform the business has led the company towards the cloud for much of its IT services.

EditShare has helped them transition their media workflows using FLEX, the workflow and asset management platform for cloud-based operations, in a project completed with US channel partner, TM Television. FLEX mirrors the functionality of EditShare’s FLOW, which AMP Creative was already using to manage content and projects, and has the same user interfaces, making the environment feel familiar for their employees.

The challenge in this case was to implement a practical, affordable infrastructure using EditShare FLEX to manage all content storage within AMP Creative’s existing AWS account. The work includes moving material between EBS and S3 object storage tiers, as their projects require. Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) is a scalable, high-performance block-storage service used to migrate SAN workloads to the cloud, usually for more demanding, I/O intensive applications.

FLEX also accelerates file transfers using CloudDat from EditShare partners Data Expedition, specialised software for moving data quickly and reliably between cloud and on-premises storage, without disrupting existing systems.

AMP Creative’s editors work at remote locations using Adobe Premiere Pro. Projects and bins are created centrally in FLEX, and high quality proxies are transferred to the edit workstations. When client packages are completed, they are rendered using the original media in the cloud. Once all of their creative staff were at ease with the new workflows and cloud environment, AMP Creative was able to shut down its traditional server room, a significant saving for the business.

“The pandemic, and the changes in business requirements it created, were transformational for many businesses,” said Ofelia Yánez, President at AMP Creative. “Working with EditShare we were able to align the way we work with these changes. We have kept our teams equipped to continue creating innovative, engaging content while allowing us to transform our business, reducing our footprint in real estate and inefficient use of resources.”

Stephen Tallamy, CTO at EditShare said, “More companies are moving on from the initial idea of the cloud as a magic bullet for business. Now we are tailoring systems that use the appropriate tools wherever they are housed, to create workflows and environments that meet the needs of actual users. EditShare continues to develop the tools and functionality that allow us to get the best out of remote and hybrid working, of which the implementation for AMP Creative is a great example.” www.editshare.com
