Built for scalability and managed in the cloud, Dejero IronRoute for media is the future of content distribution. This blended connectivity and cloud-based global content distribution solution combines the link diversity, service quality, and centralized management benefits of a software-defined blended network, with the flexibility and scalability of cloud distribution, solving the challenges of first- and last-mile connectivity to and from the cloud.

Dejero’s IronRoute for media offers broadcasters, programmers, media organizations, and other content providers, highly flexible and scalable cloud-based content distribution, while solving the challenge of first- and last-mile connectivity to and from the cloud by blending broadband, cellular (3G/4G/5G), and satellite connectivity from Intelsat’s global network.

Broadcasters, content providers, and media customers are increasingly using the cloud for global distribution, but the provision of reliable first- and last-mile connectivity to the cloud has been a challenge. Media organizations have a wide array of connectivity requirements, but very rarely does one type of connectivity fit all customer applications, either due to cost, reliability, or reach.

Dejero’s IronRoute for media, integrated with Intelsat’s global satellite connectivity, provides the dynamic flexibility to manage cost and reliability in accordance with customer requirements, by using the right blend of connectivity at the right moment. By automatically blending broadband, cellular, and satellite connectivity to move content to and from the cloud, IronRoute provides organizations with the reliability they need, while also simplifying the simultaneous IP distribution of their content around the globe with an easy-to-use drag & drop interface in a portal for managing connectivity devices and content sources and destinations.

IronRoute for media delivers dependable connectivity by blending broadband, cellular (3G/4G/5G), and satellite connectivity from Intelsat’s global network. Dejero’s Smart Blending Technology combines all available network connections to create a virtual ‘network of networks’ with the necessary bandwidth to deliver broadcast-quality content.

The cloud-based solution simplifies the simultaneous IP distribution of content to multiple locations anywhere in the world, whether it be network affiliates, station groups, or to other broadcasters and media organizations. Live and file-based content can quickly and easily be distributed point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint with a simple drag and drop interface in a web browser.

Connectivity at the content hub and the destination points is reinforced with the blended Dejero and Intelsat connectivity managed and distributed in the cloud. For example, potentially fixed broadband Internet could be available at the content-origination point, and could be aggregated with cellular and/or satellite connectivity.

Media customers today have a wide array of connectivity requirements. Very rarely does one type of connectivity fit all customer applications, either due to cost, reliability, or reach. Content providers are increasingly using the cloud for global distribution, but reliable first- and last-mile connectivity to the cloud has been a challenge.

IronRoute means the media customer doesn't have to commit to certain types of connectivity and hope for the best, but rather customize the best combination of connectivity based on business rules decided by the customer. It's also about shaping the different types of connectivity and the amounts of connectivity that will be provisioned at these remote locations. Network connectivity is now scalable in terms of reliability and cost.

We believe there is a huge market for IronRoute in locations that host regular sporting events for example, with existing fixed infrastructure and an add-on of IronRoute as an aggregated pipe for remote-integration feeds or anything that might require higher throughputs.

It will also appeal to full-time services, those that have installed MPLS circuits at 20 or even 100 locations. IronRoute places the cloud in the middle, observing each of the endpoints every 150 milliseconds and managing the best blend of connectivity at each location.

The IronRoute for media solution is available to customers through both Dejero and Intelsat.
