The Emerald® AV WALL is a video wall upgrade of the Emerald® DESKVUE receiver. This brand-new solution combines the control and management of a video wall and a KVM-over-IP system on a single platform. While DESKVUE allows users to create a personalized workspace in which they can simultaneously monitor and interact with 16 systems across up to four 4K screens (one can be 5K), AV WALL now enables them to switch contents to a 2x2 video wall. Via Emerald, users can connect to distributed physical systems, virtual machines, Cloud appliances, H.264/H.265 sources, and Virtual Network Computing (VNC). DESKVUE with AV WALL enables efficient handling of a high volume of information and team collaboration with instant switching between sources, monitors and video walls.
Detailed description of Product/Technology:
Emerald® DESKVUE with AV WALL enables users to place, size, and interact with up to 16 selected sources (physical and virtual) simultaneously across multiple desktop monitors and a 2x2 video wall from their workspaces, often without switching. Operators visualize large amounts of information from different sources for complete situational awareness and to collaborate with other operators.
In a use case, operators using Emerald DESKVUE work on a main system while monitoring many other systems in their peripheral vision. Positioning systems across multiple screens as freely movable windows, or tiles, users jump to full screen while working on a window by double-clicking on the info bar. Another double-click restores the windows to their default position. Adding the optional Emerald® AV Wall Software to the DESKVUE receivers facilitates collaboration: operators can share contents on a 2x2 video wall, and hand sources to other Emerald users. Operators/administrators control and manage KVM and AV video walls through APIs.
To tailor their workspaces, users connect one keyboard, mouse, and audio to the DESKVUE unit. DESKVUE’s four 4K video outputs link to desktop monitors and video wall displays. By cascading DESKVUE receivers, up to four 4K desktop monitors (one can be 5K) support each user console and a 2x2 video wall directly. Support for larger video walls is planned for 2024.
Connecting to physical systems via Emerald transmitters, VMs using RDP, PCoIP, PCoIP ultra, H.264/265 video sources, Cloud Appliances, and Virtual Network Computing (VNC), this solution requires no additional hardware. Active Directory integration simplifies password management.
How does the product work?
Rethinking user experience and collaboration in production control rooms, there is a strong need for shared remote access to a variety of system with instant response times and error-free switching, better team collaboration, and visualization of an ever-increasing amount of information at the user console and a video wall.
Taking a fresh approach, Black Box introduces Emerald®AV WALL, a Software Upgrade of the Emerald DESKVUE receiver adding video wall control to the KVM-over-IP system. AV WALL comes with a setup of APIs for advanced video wall processing. With that, any DESKVUE user can simultaneously control up to 16 selected systems and view system information on up to four monitors at his console while also sharing contents directly and instantly on a 2x2 video wall without any need to change the control system.
Emerald DESKVUE with AV WALL complements the Emerald ecosystem that provides shared access to an unlimited number of physical computers, virtual machines, cloud appliances, and H.264/265 camera feeds at any time and any location. The system boasts extremely low bandwidth usage with full HD/4K video interoperability, multi-level redundancy and advanced security. Emerald uniquely unifies KVM-over-IP connectivity with AV video wall processing at reduced costs of ownership, and less system complexity by eliminating the need for two separate systems, resulting in a more intuitive and simplified user experience and system administration.
Because Emerald DESKVUE with AV WALL integrates and interoperates with all existing Black Box Emerald deployments, users can easily align the new receiver with their existing deployments, while adding video wall capabilities.
