AJA Ki Pro GO H.264 Firmware Recorder/Player Improves H.264 Recording
Ki Pro GO v2.0, AJA’s portable multi-channel H.264 recorder and player, has a new firmware update that improves H.264 recording quality and reliability. It includes recording support for up to 25 Mbps, 10-bit and 4:2:2 colour space, and expands timecode capabilities. Super out is enhanced and front panel audio monitoring, in-system drive formatting, network file downloads and gang recording support have all been added.
Targeting broadcast, pro AV and live event production applications where H.264 is the primary capture codec, Ki Pro GO supports up to four channels of simultaneous HD or SD recording from HDMI or SDI sources, direct to COTS USB drives. Ki Pro GO v2.0 increases the maximum bit rate to 25 Mbps, improving the recording quality for live production scenarios with complex stage and concert lighting.
The new firmware adds 4:2:2 colour space and 10-bit options for more detailed imagery capture. Users can now choose from five recording settings including Low for simple talking head shots, conference backups, and security recording. Med-Low and Medium are for more complex content. Med-High and High are for fast moving, highly detailed content like sports.
New enhanced super out and front panel audio monitoring display the remaining media percentage and audio meters for all four video channels. Ki Pro GO v2.0 further expands timecode choices with a new option for LTC, Linear Timecode encoding of SMPTE timecode data in an audio signal, on one of the analogue audio inputs. This allows the second analogue audio input channel to function as a mono input.
New in-system media formatting eliminates the need for a separate PC. Network file downloading increases ease of use for live production environments, giving the user the option to move recorded files to a central server on the LAN. Gang support has also been added so that users can easily connect multiple Ki Pro GO devices together via Ethernet, and control the entire group of devices using one unit via Ki Pro GO’s web-based UI or front panel button controls. www.aja.com
