NUKE STUDIO Packs Up VFX, Editorial and Finishing

The Foundry’s NUKE STUDIO has tools for VFX, editorial and finishing into one application, extending NUKE’s original compositing, conforming and shot management functionality. The current combination is a node-based VFX, editorial and finishing package designed to work for independent artists as well as teams working on fast turnaround projects. While one artist can use it to work on a project from end to end with complete creative control within one application, it also has a collaborative framework that allows that individual to work within a team.

It has a combined timeline and node-graph workflow, a hub for total project control, and lets artists share scripts, work with annotations and preserves version up and down. Users have the node-based NUKE environment to build complex composites and shots. GPU accelerated effects can be added directly in the timeline to support experimentation, polish looks and achieve a high-end finish where required.

Real-time 4K playback runs in-application and through SDI-out hardware to assist client attended sessions. The software’s built-in render farm functionality can automatically assess the available resources to optimise speed and performance, either on a single machine or when connected to a network. It also integrates with off the shelf or internal asset management systems and pipelines.

NUKE STUDIO was announced at a live presentation at NAB 2014 in Las Vegas on 7 April, and will be available later this year. www.thefoundry.co.uk
