The Blackmagic Design MultiDock docking device now has Thunderbolt 2
connectivity for high enough transfer speeds to support editing and colour
correction directly from source disks.
Blackmagic MultiDock Accelerates Transfers with Thunderbolt 2 |
Blackmagic MultiDock is a four-disk docking system and high speed disk array in a rack mount device with a straightforward cartridge-style design that works well with high capacity solid state drives. Each of the four docks has an independent SATA interface chip for very fast data transfer speeds. The complete system is compatible with SSDs recorded in HyperDeck broadcast recorders, the Blackmagic Cinema Camera among other recorders and cameras. |

By using its Thunderbolt 2 connection to existing Thunderbolt computers, MultiDock can achieve transfer speeds at up to 20 Gb/s, which can support responsive editing and colour correction directly from source disks and avoid slow file copying. The MultiDock also includes a loop thru so users can connect up to six devices with a single Thunderbolt connection, resulting in a joint SSD docking station with up to 24 slots or fast disk arrays consisting of up to 24 disks, striped together on a single Thunderbolt connection to the computer. Blackmagic MultiDock uses Mac OS X and Windows driver support, allowing SSDs to mount in the same way as regular, built-in hard disks and ensure compatibility with software including DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Avid, Smoke and others. Multiple disks may also be striped together to build a fast SSD RAID array. The new Blackmagic MultiDock replaces the previous model and is available now from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide for AU$699 Inc GST. www.blackmagicdesign.com |
