Cobalt has incorporated exciting new features into the UltraBlue MV-SW Multiviewer, a software-based multiviewer for compressed and baseband (ST 2110) IP/SDI streams over IP. This product is available as a turn-key package (server plus software) or software-only, where the customer supplies a dedicated server.
Features include support for receiving audio/video content over IP across a variety of protocols and formats with very flexible audio routing, bringing a multitude of options to suit every application.

The intuitive web interface incorporates support for compressed and baseband (ST 2110) IP/SDI inputs and outputs allowing the multiviewer to grow alongside customers’ needs. Multiple user logins are supported, as well as per-user access privileges for maximum security.

Mosaic configurations are a snap with arbitrary sizes and orientations, graphic overlays, ancillary data, tallies, UMDs and IDs. PIP configurations can be easily copied, and setups can be saved and restored. UltraBlue MV-SW will drive multiple HDMI displays in any orientation (landscape or portrait, selectable per-display). PIPs can also be arbitrarily placed and rotated.

The Cobalt UltraBlue MV-SW incorporates support for the most common types of ancillary data, including various types of closed-captioning display. The multiviewer features full audio support, with flexible output audio routing and fully configurable audio bars.

UltraBlue MV-SW will be able to use GPU acceleration if available. The number of inputs, streams, and heads will be a function of the available CPU/GPU.
The main features of the product are:
• Input protocols:
o Compressed streams: UDP, RTP (with support for ST 2022-1 FEC), RTMP and RIST (Simple and Main Profiles).
o Baseband streams: SMPTE ST 2110-20 (video), -30 (audio), and –40 (ancillary data) - requires one or more Mellanox ConnectX 6 series with a RiverMax license.
o SDI inputs: requires one or more Dektec DTA-2178 cards for SDI inputs and outputs.

• Outputs: the multiviewer supports as many outputs (heads) as available in the hardware.

• The multiviewer offers the following features:
o Arbitrary PIP positioning and rotation.
o Support for portrait or landscape orientation, on a per-screen basis.
o Support for arbitrary image and text (UMD) overlays.
o Support for tally, including suitable protocol support.
o Support for on-screen clocks of various types.
o Support for arbitrary routing of inputs to PIPs, including replication.
o Support for audio bars, with arbitrary size and positioning.
o Support for output audio routing – any audio service can be routed to any output.
o Intuitive web interface for configuration, with support for multiple user access levels.
o Support for copying configuration between PIPs.
o Support for saving and restoring configuration.

The UltraBlue IP Multiviewer includes several optional monitoring and alarm features with configurable thresholds, available in a per-PIP basis, including:
• Frozen or black video
• Audio silence
• Loss of Closed-Captioning
• Loss of V-Chip
• Loss of SCTE-104/SCTE-35
• Loss of signal

The UltraBlue IP Multiviewer is part of a family of multiviewers, which also includes two SDI-based multiviewers in openGear card format:
• The cascadable 5-input 9970-QS multiviewer, with support for signals up to 3G-SDI.
• The 18-input, 2-head 9971 multiviewer, with support for signals up to 4K in both inputs and outputs.

The feature set of the SDI multiviewers is the same as the software-based UltraBlue IP multiviewer.

By offering both software-based IP multiviewers, as well as hardware-based SDI multiviewers, Cobalt Digital can address the needs of a wide range of applications, with a consistent product.
