Vizrt’s new PTZ3 PLUS and PTZ3 UHD PLUS cameras feature AI-driven talent tracking, microphone choice with phantom power, and straightforward integration for augmented reality projects. Their design fits discreetly into various environments, and suits live streams and events, corporate town halls, visual radio and similar applications.
With the intention of bridging the gap between ProAV and Broadcast, the PTZ3 PLUS cameras operate within an efficient workflow that sends video, audio, power, control, tally and FreeD camera tracking data over a single ethernet cable via NDI|HX.
AI-driven Presenter Tracking
Operators can automate talent tracking based on face and posture detection with AI presenter tracking. Tracking continues even when talent turns away from the shot, with an automatic 0.5-10s timeout/reset if the presenter leaves the presentation area, and the camera avoids tracking off set or breaking a green screen effect due to edge limitation. Blackboard detection locks the camera in place when it identifies a presentation area, which also improves the viewer experience.
FreeD Metadata over NDI|HX
To simplify setup and use of camera tracking data for Augmented Reality (AR) or Extended Reality (XR) system setups, the cameras embed the open FreeD tracking data protocol in the NDI|HX stream itself, adding camera position, rotation and lens data metadata into each frame. This development reduces reliance on further hardware and limits complexity in productions, making it easier for producers to create content with graphics systems like Viz Virtual Studio Go that are specialised for AR projects and virtual studios, at broadcast quality.
Owners of the original NewTek PTZ3 and PTZ3 UHD models can use FreeD-over-NDI|HX with a free firmware upgrade available on Vizrt.com.
Phantom Powered Audio
With software-controlled phantom power to the mini XLR port, most types of microphone or audio source can be connected to ingest audio in the same NDI|HX stream, powering +48v microphones without an amplifier. Two-step confirmation prevents accidentally powering non-powered microphones. As less equipment is needed, this feature reduces setup complexity for AV deployments and remote productions, and integrates more easily with workflows.
