HP’s ZBook Ultra G1a mobile workstation supports tasks from 3D design, graphics-intensive rendering to working locally with LLMs, and incorporates up to 50 TOPS of NPU processing.
HP’s new ZBook Ultra G1a mobile workstation runs on an AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO processor, which can be specified with up to 16 AMD Zen 5 CPU cores, up to 40 AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics compute units and an AMD XDNA 2 NPU with 50 TOPS of AI processing ability. In this configuration, it delivers performance for creators and power users, supporting demanding tasks such as 3D design, graphics-intensive rendering and working locally with LLMs. The ZBook Ultra G1a features up to 128GB of unified memory, with up to 96GB allocated to graphics, for efficient multitasking.
With its speciality in workflows for visualisation and iteration with Generative AI, the primary markets the ZBook Ultra G1a targets are professionals in the media and entertainment, architecture, engineering, construction and product development sectors. Apart from its Radeon graphics, the AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO processor has an XDNA 2 NPU, allowing it to support AI features in software applications.
The ZBook Ultra G1a is designed to run Large Language Models (LLMs) locally, owing to its unified memory architecture and compute capabilities. This means, for instance, that developers can work with LLM software like Meta’s Llama 70B and Mistral AI’s Mixtral 8x7B on a thin, light 14in mobile workstation. The AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO Series processors include ISV-certified AMD Radeon graphics hardware, support for AMD PRO Technologies security and a range of integration options.
An Onlooker Detection feature with Screen Blur notifies users of onlookers and automatically blurs the screen if necessary. The laptop is supplied loaded with Windows 11 OS, which comes with Copilot+, and features PC Recall intelligence, real-time conference call translations and studio effects, all running locally. PC Recall is about re-finding what a user has seen before on a PC, such as a photo, link or message. A timeline can be used to find the content, or language-powered searches to describe how something is remembered.
Connectivity includes USB Type-A and Type-C ports (10Gbps), Thunderbolt 4 (40Gbps), an audio/mic combo jack and HDMI 2.1 video. Cooling is handled through a vapour chamber that vaporizes liquid and distributes through the chamber with high density fans.
