A new production-ready workflow puts AFP news content within Dalet Flex, where diverse editorial metadata forms a foundation for AI-assisted production workflows.

Journalists at the Agence France-Presse (AFP), one of the world's largest, most respected international news agencies, produce hundreds of videos covering global events every day. These video assets are accompanied by detailed editorial metadata that includes scene-by-scene descriptions, shot composition, locations, subjects, soundbites and contextual information.
While this rich metadata has long been available through AFP's content services, many newsroom systems have been unable to take full advantage of it. To overcome this issue, AFP worked with Dalet to create a purpose-built integration that makes use of AFP news content within Dalet Flex.
Editorial Intelligence
Designed on AFP's editorial workflows and metadata model, the integration accesses AFP's diverse editorial intelligence throughout the Dalet Flex production process, from content discovery and search to browsing, editing and story production. The result is a straightforward workflow that enables news organisations to incorporate the content AFP has gathered more efficiently.
Dalet Flex is media asset management and orchestration software with tools for content production, curation, delivery and monetisation. It organises assets into a scalable central library where users can upload, tag and search for assets, update metadata and trigger workflows.
Search functionality includes browsing, filtering and sorting to help teams curate collections and prepare content for delivery. These functions also make media assets simpler to re-use through a secure, metadata-based archive. Dalet Flex supports collaboration as well, and includes review and approval workflows with time-coded comments, fine-grained access control and sharing functions.

With the new AFP integration and content workflow, media is automatically delivered into Dalet Flex at regular intervals, with breaking news updates available in near real time. Journalists can quickly search and filter stories using AFP metadata, and navigate directly to specific scenes or soundbites using shot-by-shot descriptions. From there, they can move directly into editing with media that is ready for production and compatible with Dalet's editing environment.
Immediate Visibility
With AFP metadata, journalists instantly have the complete picture in front of them. Not only can they select the exact shot type they need, but they also gain immediate visibility into the author, source, status, location and linked articles. By bypassing the need to search for footage and context, they can focus on producing stories faster and with more confidence.
