Chyron LIVE now includes direct integration with Haivision StreamHub for remote contribution management, plus SCTE-35 ad insertion for live stream monetisation, and simpler switching.

Cloud-based control room

Chyron LIVE, a cloud-native live production platform, now includes direct integration with Haivision StreamHub for managing remote video contributions. The platform’s new release also features SCTE-35 ad insertion to monetise live streams, and switcher, shortcut and replay improvements that give operators tighter control during live broadcasts.

As more live producers move operations into the cloud instead of mobile vehicles, Chyron LIVE continues to expand to meet two needs common to most productions – transferring reliable video from the field, and generating revenue from live audiences. The recent LIVE 1.14 and 1.15 releases address both, while also refining the core switching and replay tools operators use for most shows.

Chyron LIVE is an end-to-end video production platform accessible through a web-browser from anywhere with an internet connection. A solo operator, onsite team or remote distributed teams can cut and mix live sources, adjust audio levels across feeds, playout Chyron PRIME broadcast graphics, add remote guests and create multimedia playlists.

Chyron LIVE maintains a real-time state across multiple connected users for collaboration with a remote crew. Users can also design and customise a control interface specifically for their events or matches, operated via touchscreen, mouse-and-keyboard or from external control devices.

LIVE 1.15 - Haivision StreamHub Integration

Multiviewer monitoring

Because LIVE operates as a 100% cloud-native workflow, it creates a gap between the field and the studio. A direct integration with Haivision StreamHub was added for LIVE 1.15 in order to bridge this gap. Field-based camera operators and live broadcast producers use StreamHub to share live video contribution and return feeds over mobile and IP networks. It can be used to receive, decode and distribute live video as part of a remote production workflow. The new StreamHub / LIVE integration allows users to connect to their StreamHub account and manage video inputs from inside the Chyron LIVE interface.

Kristy Weir, product manager, Chyron LIVE, said, “Integrating Haivision StreamHub unifies the essential tasks of video ingest, management and distribution from anywhere, into one environment, avoiding extra steps for remote users. The integration serves to pull field crews and the studio closer together, especially when used alongside mobile contribution tools like Haivision’s MoJoPro app.”

Journalists who have the MoJoPro app can broadcast live from a mobile phone while recording a local file, or use the record-only mode to create files and send them later. Its functionality makes adding remote contributors very simple.

LIVE 1.4 – Monetisation, Switching and Workflow Updates

The recent release of LIVE 1.14 focussed on monetisation and related workflow improvements such as SCTE-35 ad insertion, giving producers the ability to trigger and manage commercial breaks directly inside a live broadcast. They can also configure pre-roll, slate and lead-out segments, and use built-in verification reporting to confirm ad delivery to advertisers.

A standard Black source has been added to the LIVE switcher to use when creating clean cuts and dissolves to black. Operators have new keyboard shortcuts for sending sources directly to preview or program, and the ability to clear individual or all clip slots in the replay module to make sure operators are always working with current content. A transition improvement now defaults to a cut if a selected transition file is unavailable on a given environment, keeping switching reliable even when custom transition assets are missing.

LIVE ships with PRIME 5.3 and Prime Engine 2317 – Chyron’s modular software platform for assembling production workflows – under the hood. For instance, for live productions, switching, audio mixing, real-time graphics and clip server capabilities can be made accessible from a single interface for ease of use. Workflows specialised for graphics, branding, VSAR, video walls, touchscreens and venue control can also be implemented from the same platform.

Nikole McStanley, senior vice president of product, Chyron LIVE, said, “Each new LIVE release focusses on making live production simpler, more flexible and more resilient, whether by bringing remote contributors into a broadcast, helping teams stay on air when the unexpected happens, or finding new opportunities to engage and monetise audiences. We’re continuing to build a platform that helps teams to produce high-quality live content from anywhere, with the confidence and tools they need to succeed.” chyron.com
