Ateme launched the new DR5000e in its KYRION line of contribution decoders, made for high value live sports and event delivery, with flexibility to manage emerging industry changes.
Ateme has launched a new development in its KYRION line of contribution decoders, the DR5000e. Designed for high value live sports and event delivery, the DR5000e decoder combines video quality, ultra-low latency and reliable performance in a compact, energy-efficient design.
Building on the functionality of the CM5000e encoder, the DR5000e works across satellite, ASI and IP workflows, supporting dual-channel UHD decoding and simple software upgrades to increase capacity without changing hardware.
It is engineered to work with plug-and-play simplicity in hybrid and IP workflows today, and includes enough flexibility for the SMPTE 2110 and HLS Contribution ingest workflows coming up in the near future.
With integrated BISS-CA protection, co-developed by Ateme and the EBU, the DR5000e secures contribution while making OTT and cloud-based delivery models more feasible over time.
"The DR5000e embodies Ateme's vision of reliable and evolutive contribution," said Julien Mendel, Marketing Director at Ateme. "It delivers the performance and trust required for live operations while opening the door to IP and OTT-based workflows."
Ateme commented that, while others move away from hardware, they are continuing to invest in professional-grade appliances. The intention is to blend software flexibility with broadcast reliability, and maintain a complete system for contribution and distribution into the future. The DR5000e will be available late in 2025, extending Ateme's existing KYRION range.
Solutions for distributing video content to affiliates need to support multiple methods, and be prepared to migrate to IP. Ateme believes a unified approach, over the whole distribution chain, eases this migration. Providers can avoid installing extra devices at the edge, and hand full control of the content down to the affiliate.
When managing emerging industry changes, content providers need to establish secure, scalable distribution. Ateme’s software approach to video distribution includes wide scope for scaling and allows integration of new codecs that help optimize bandwidth usage. It also allows users to choose the most appropriate processor.
As mentioned above, Ateme uses BISS-CA to secure distribution with watermarking, and including DRM, grant management, leaker detection and revocation.
To maintain competitiveness, distributors can enhance their services for content owners and affiliates with regionalisation and ad replacement, at the affiliate level or through customisation in the cloud.
Operations can be kept simple by making complex baseband processing – including HDR LUT and motion-compensated framerate conversion – available within the same software associated with encoding or decoding. Again, deploying further equipment is unnecessary. www.ateme.com
