Grass Valley is combining their live production expertise with Daktronics’ LED Display and content management systems to upgrade fan experiences at venues.

Grass Valley and Daktronics have formed a strategic technology partnership that combines Grass Valley’s expertise in live production with Daktronics’ speciality in large-scale LED displays. Their purpose is to develop integrated, comprehensive systems supporting content creation, efficient production and real-time presentation for sports and entertainment venues.

A further goal for both companies is the opportunity to innovate, leading to in-venue systems that adapt to the evolving needs of modern sports and entertainment, from scalable infrastructure to immersive fan experiences.

“This partnership with Grass Valley will involve aligning our complementary technologies,” said Brad Wiemann, Interim CEO and President of Daktronics. “Together, we’re helping venues deliver fully immersive, end-to-end experiences that transform how fans engage with live events.”

Grass Valley CEO Jon Wilson said, “Joining forces with Daktronics allows us to push our systems into new types of live production and venue presentation. With two of the industry’s leading brands, we’re excited about what this means for the future of integrated, scalable solutions in the world’s top venues.”

Real-time Rendering and Automation

Several joint projects are already underway, applying the technical integration of Daktronics’ Camino display and control software with Grass Valley’s IP-based live production tools. Camino is Daktronics’ non-linear editor and real-time renderer. It integrates with Daktronics Show Control systems to set up playback directly to LED displays or TV broadcasts.

Camino has a timeline for precise control over visual and audio elements in complex compositions using keyframing and modifiable layers. Graphics teams can customise the look and feel of elements in the timeline with position, scale, colour and effects properties. The elements can also be triggered to play automatically based on real-time game, player or team data. By integrating external data sources, these result in dynamic visualisations that update with new data.

These projects take advantage of the combined strengths of both companies to deliver comprehensive, combined solutions that enhance the fan experience and simplify production workflows. Details of these innovative deployments will be available in the coming months. www.grassvalley.com
