Arcitecta and Wasabi now make it simpler to integrate object cloud storage into workflows to help optimise costs, enhance security and maintain control over IT infrastructures more easily.

Arcitecta, a data management software developer, has formed a partnership with Wasabi Technologies, a company that manages cloud object storage for frequently accessed data. Their partnership allows organisations to integrate Wasabi’s cloud storage directly into their workflows using Arcitecta’s Mediaflux software as a gateway.

With the goal of balancing storage costs with data security, and facilitating collaboration, MediaFlux presents one unified view of a user’s data. It allows users to access and all of their data – including Wasabi cloud storage – regardless of where it resides, with identity and policy-based access controls. Through intelligent data placement and movement, data is consistently available in the appropriate location and at the required time.

Cloud in the Workflow

Integrating cloud storage into an organisation’s workflow has advantages, such as improved scalability, accessibility and collaboration. But it also introduces challenges concerning data security, compliance, migration, compatibility, performance, latency and data governance.

Data management across multiple environments is also complex. Storing data both on-premises and in private or public clouds immediately creates silos, making it difficult to gain a unified view of the data. Making sure that data remains consistent and synchronized across different environments is complicated as well, especially when updates occur simultaneously in multiple locations.

Arcitecta addresses these issues, making it simpler to integrate Wasabi’s object cloud storage, which focusses on predicable cloud costs and on-premises performance, into workflows by allowing it to appear like any other storage managed by Mediaflux. By integrating cloud storage with Mediaflux Gateway, organisations can optimise costs, enhance security and maintain control over their IT infrastructure more easily.

Automating Data Management

Automatically tiering data at the right time to a scalable, more affordable storage destinations such as Wasabi is a way users can manage the high cost of active storage. However, Arcitecta believes that basic file system metadata is no longer sufficient for making data storage decisions or automating processes, and has developed specialised metadata that makes sure tiered data remains searchable and accessible.

When acquiring new storage elements, it is important to incorporate them into the wider storage system without compromising data visibility or usability. With the unified Mediaflux management features, organisations can continue using high-performance production storage for critical data, and move less frequently accessed data to Wasabi cloud object storage, optimising the budget.

Mediaflux Gateway also enables independent backup and management of both data and metadata, to allow users more control and ways to improve operational efficiency.

Fast Access

“Organisations need fast, easy access to their data and, for distributed workflows in particular, cloud storage is a great option,” said Jason Lohrey, CEO and Founder of Arcitecta. “Our partnership with Wasabi enables customers to store, manage and access their data from Wasabi’s cloud into their day-to-day workflows, all within a single, unified view and namespace. This ability allows them to access all of their data to accelerate decision-making, innovation, and ultimately achieve better business outcomes.”

“Balancing storage costs with data security is crucial, especially as data becomes central to daily operations,” said Laurie Mitchell, SVP of Global Alliances and Partner Marketing, Wasabi Technologies. “By integrating cloud storage with Mediaflux, organisations can optimize costs, enhance security and maintain control over their IT infrastructure.”

To make pricing of the joint Mediaflux and Wasabi services predictable and straightforward, Mediaflux licensing is independent from the volume of data stored, so organisations can take advantage of scalability. Wasabi customers only pay one per TB rate per month for capacity, with no extra or egress fees.  www.arcitecta.com
