Avid’s software will help Amazon MGM Studios’ adopt AWS cloud-based post workflows to meet demand for global, agile, efficient creative tools that can be used anywhere, anytime.
Following a new agreement between Avid and Amazon MGM Studios, Avid Media Composer and Avid NEXIS will be integrated on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through this new integration, the studio’s customers will be able to deploy Avid’s editing and storage solutions via the cloud, in order to better accommodate specific production needs.
The collaboration is part of Amazon MGM Studios’ multi-year plan to upgrade global production and post-production workflows with scalable cloud-native solutions.
Amazon MGM Studios and Avid began a strategic collaboration three years ago that will continue as the companies prepare to integrate other Avid tools via the cloud. The Amazon MGM Studios integrations got started after the Avid on AWS production framework was presented at NAB Show 2025.
Automated Post Workflows on AWS
On-premises post-production usually needs significant upfront investment in terms of physical infrastructure, hardware and time. In contrast, automated workflows using existing cloud-based resources are an opportunity to lower costs and simplify operations. Using Avid on AWS, such a set-up can also reduce deployment time by using templates for specific project configurations, allow rapid scaling and give a studio remote access to global talent.
Avid’s software helped Amazon MGM Studios’ adopt cloud-based post-production workflows on AWS in their efforts to meet demand across the media sector for global, agile, efficient creative tools that can be used anywhere, anytime. The framework also delivers enterprise-level security and compliance.
“We’re confident in the role Avid NEXIS and Avid Media Composer play in the future of cloud-based post-production,” said Raf Soltanovich, VP of Technology, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios. “Today, through the Studio’s own services on AWS, we can rapidly deploy Avid NEXIS to our productions around the world and be assured of supporting them with high quality tools.”
Continuous Access
Amazon MGM Studios’ cloud-first operations are used to enhance global collaboration. The deployment of Avid tools in AWS means distributed creative teams can always access the tools they need and simplify tasks through flexible, software-defined workflows, ultimately accelerating turnaround times.
For example, the process of launching new global editorial environments can largely be automated in AWS, which strengthens the production’s agility and efficiency. This agility was demonstrated on a recent feature shooting in India. Dailies could be run in Mumbai and editorial completed in London and Spain.
Editorial changes could be handled immediately during production, supporting creativity and international collaboration. Production teams were able to maintain workflow continuity across borders, and quickly adapt to evolving creative needs of customers. www.avid.com
