Telestream's certification with Quantum ActiveScale combines DIVA's policy-driven archive workflows with on-premises object storage to support long-term preservation at petabyte scale.

Telestream's DIVA content management platform is now certified with Quantum ActiveScale object storage, including its integrated ActiveScale Cold Storage tier. Through this certification, media organizations can combine DIVA's policy-driven archive workflows with extremely durable, on-premises object storage designed for straightforward management to support long-term preservation at petabyte scale, with lower power and cooling costs.

The new certification also expands the on-going relationship between Telestream and Quantum, and builds on the existing certification of Quantum StorNext and interoperability with Telestream solutions such as Vantage. ActiveScale combines active and cold storage in one platform where users can manage active data and long-term archives, ultimately leading to cost-efficient cold storage.

Structure, Protection and Retention

Media companies that are now generating and retaining more content than in the past, feel under pressure to archive all material safely, affordably and sustainably. As the value of this content grows, and libraries expand across sports, broadcast, production and streaming operations, DIVA's lifecycle and policy management can help organisations keep archives structured, searchable and ready for reuse.

However, protecting and retaining vast collections for decades also demands storage that is power-efficient, cost-effective and secure at petabyte scale – requirements that challenge traditional cloud and disk-based systems. Because cloud costs are rising and content value increasing over the longer term, companies are seeking modern, on-premises S3 object storage with predictable economics and sustainable preservation.

"DIVA is the platform companies use to manage complex content lifecycles, enforce retention policies, and keep large archives organized and accessible over decades," said Mark Wronski, vice president, Telestream. "Certifying DIVA with Quantum ActiveScale and its integrated Cold Storage tier opens further options for architecting sustainable, high-capacity archives. The Telestream-Quantum integration delivers this combination – DIVA's proven lifecycle management with a highly durable, economical, scalable storage foundation for long-term preservation and reuse."

"Object storage is becoming the foundation for every modern media workflow because of its scalability, efficiency and long-term reliability that today's archives demand," said Mike Hardy, vice president of alliances, Quantum. "ActiveScale, with its integrated Cold Storage tier in a single S3 namespace, results in a powerful, sustainable way to preserve growing content libraries. We look forward to seeing this combined solution continue to protect and sustain valuable media assets for decades to come."

Scalable, Affordable Archive Strategy

Telestream and Quantum anticipate that, with DIVA now certified across all ActiveScale tiers, sports organisations, broadcasters, production companies, post facilities and enterprises managing long-term video libraries will have the means to build archives capable of scaling from terabytes to multiple petabytes and beyond.

Such archives present a way to preserve ageing or at-risk library assets in an affordable form factor, keeping the flexibility of cloud while avoiding unpredictable cloud egress fees. They also support consistent DIVA workflows maintained across on-premises and cloud-based S3 tiers, and allows the used of a unified API-driven archive strategy to simplify ingest, retention and retrieval.

Telestream has certified all active versions of DIVA with ActiveScale and ActiveScale Cold Storage using Quantum's S3 API. The certification covers archiving, retrieval, metadata management, and policy-driven lifecycle operations across local and hybrid archive environments. Both companies have validated interoperability and give coordinated support for customers deploying the integrated solution. www.telestream.com      www.quantum.com
