Hammerspace combines its unified global data platform with Cloudian’s exabyte-scale object storage to accelerate AI and analytics, and maximise the valueof enterprise data.
Data management and storage specialists Hammerspace and Cloudian, have announced a partnership delivering a new method for managing unstructured data at scale. Combining Hammerspace's parallel file system performance and global data orchestration with Cloudian's exabyte-scale HyperStore object storage, the partnership aims to help enterprises manage, protect and extract value from massive unstructured data sets.
Hammerspace focusses on the use and preservation of unstructured data through the development of its Global Data Platform that unifies unstructured data across edge, data centres and clouds. Achieving high parallel performance across multiple processors for AI, GPUs and high-speed data analytics, it orchestrates data to any location or storage system. This functionality avoids data silos and makes data immediately accessible as a resource for users, applications and compute clustes, regardless of location.
Cloudian specialises in S3-compatible AI data lake platforms, with emphasis on security, scalability and direct cloud integration. Cloudian is interoperable with NVIDIA GPUDirect and with AI tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Kafka and Arrow. Their systems are software-defined and deployed on-premises, used to simplify and accelerate AI workflows, with geo-distributed architecture that manages and protects object and file data at the edge, core and in the cloud.
According to Hammerspace, unstructured data comprises 90% of all data being generated today, growing rapidly and challenging enterprises with its scale and complexity. Integrating the company’s high-performance data orchestration capabilities with Cloudian's secure, scalable object storage platform makes it possible to unify data across edge, core and cloud environments in a single global namespace.
The goal is simplified management of and accessibility to unstructured data, while also supporting performance-intensive applications such as AI training, HPC workloads and analytics.
Value to Users
For users, advantages of the partnership include data orchestration directly across tiers and locations. As mentioned, Hammerspace's data platform automates data movement between critical Tier 0 and Tier 1 storage and object storage within a unified global namespace, spanning sites, hybrid clouds and multi-cloud environments.
In Cloudian's HyperStore, users have exabyte-scale object storage as well, with up to date security comprising S3 API compatibility, robust data protection and ransomware defense, to maintain demanding workloads.
Also, to protect its high-performance access and enable direct integration with Cloudian storage, Hammerspace supports industry standard NFS, SMB and S3 protocols without proprietary software or networking requirements.
Data Potential
"Our partnership with Cloudian redefines how enterprises manage and leverage unstructured data," said Molly Presley, SVP of Marketing, Hammerspace. "We are enabling organizations to unify their data ecosystems, eliminate silos, and unlock the full potential of their data for AI, analytics and other transformative initiatives."
"Our collaboration with Hammerspace is an integration that combines performance and scalability with simplicity," said Jon Toor, Chief Marketing Officer, Cloudian. "This partnership gives enterprises the tools they need to overcome the challenges of data growth and focus on digital transformation strategies."
