Ateme video compression, delivery and streaming company, has formed a strategic partnership with Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) and Scaleway to deliver a fully sovereign, cloud‑based media supply chain, covering the entire content lifecycle from ingest to monetized streaming.

Their partnership builds on the collaboration between BCE and Scaleway announced in February 2026, when BCE and Scaleway committed to develop and operate cloud-based media services that meet the performance, security and sovereignty requirements of broadcasters and media organisations across Europe. These two companies share a common objective to deliver European cloud alternatives for media organisations seeking transparency, control and long-term alignment with European data residency and governance principles.

This partnership combined BCE’s expertise in media workflows, systems integration and managed services with Scaleway’s cloud infrastructure, which operates only in Europe. After BCE successfully tested various media workloads on Scaleway’s European cloud infrastructure, the platform’s suitability for production-grade media environments has led to making cloud-native media services available that address such use cases as content processing, distribution and storage.

European Alternative

Now, BCE and Scaleway have integrated Ateme’s video processing innovations, delivery and monetisation capabilities into the collaboration. Together, the three companies bring broadcasters, content owners and service providers a cloud-native media solution designed and operated entirely in Europe, and ready for production.

Remi Beaudouin, Chief Strategy Officer at Ateme commented, “By combining Ateme’s expertise in video delivery and monetisation with BCE’s operational excellence and Scaleway’s sovereign cloud infrastructure, we are delivering a unique, end-to-end media supply chain fully aligned with European sovereignty requirements.”

Their complete, sovereign media value chain serves as a suite of services covering all stages of the media lifecycle starting from content acquisition and ingest. It includes processing, encoding and packaging, content management, broadcast distribution and streaming at scale across all platforms. Monetisation is also addressed through dynamic ad insertion and targeted advertising.

Together, the three companies mean to present a credible European alternative to non-European hyperscalers, aligned with growing market demand for transparency, control and long-term digital independence. Media organisations can take advantage of BCE’s expertise in media workflows, systems integration and managed services, Scaleway’s high-performance, Europe‑based sovereign cloud infrastructure, and Ateme’s compression, streaming and monetisation technologies.

Sylvain Merle, Chief Technology Officer, BCE remarked, “This collaboration enables us to extend our cloud-native media services to a complete supply chain, addressing real production needs with performance and operational robustness.”

Sovereign, Production‑Grade Platform Designed for Europe

Under this infrastructure, the joint platform is designed to address some of the primary requirements of the media industry, including performance, scalability, reliability and full compliance with European sovereignty and data protection requirements.

“Until now, European media companies looking to modernize their workflows had very few truly European options capable of covering the full chain, from ingest to monetization,” Damien Lucas, CEO at Scaleway said. “This is what makes this partnership so important. By combining Scaleway’s 100% European cloud and AI capabilities, Ateme’s competitive video technologies and BCE’s operational expertise, we are creating a complete, production-ready alternative for broadcasters and content owners who want performance, control and technological independence without relying on non-European platforms.”

The partnership intends to accelerate the adoption of AI, GenAI and agentic AI-driven services across the media supply chain as well, including intelligent content processing, automated workflows, metadata enrichment, audience personalisation and optimised monetisation.

By combining cloud-native infrastructure, media expertise and advanced video technologies, Ateme, BCE and Scaleway are positioning themselves to help media partners make the most of their content’s value.

The partnership is being progressively shown through industry events which started with a Stockholm Seminar on 10 June, jointly presenting the sovereign end-to-end media supply chain, and 25 June in Paris at telecommunications company Iliad Group headquarters to highlight customer use cases and deployments. Finally, at IBC 2026 in September, live demonstrations across the three companies’ booths with show the full ingest-to-monetization workflow in action. www.ateme.com
