TAG swXcht collaboration

TAG Video Systems and swXtch.io, a developer of cloud-based multicast networking, are collaborating on a media monitoring system in the cloud for broadcasters and content creators.

While TAG specialises in software-based IP media probing, monitoring, visualisation and analytics, swXtch.io develops the network features needed to move high-throughput workflows, such as those used in broadcast applications, to the cloud.

By integrating swXtch.io’s cloud capabilities, TAG’s software-based multiviewer can monitor IP streams, including 2110 and JPEG XS, with the same level of performance as on-premises monitoring. This makes higher accuracy available to more workflows, and can deliver real-time insights into stream health and quality, reducing costs and lowering latency at the same time.

swXtch.io reduces bandwidth consumption and latency through multicast replication. By allowing users to send one stream to 100 hosts, for example, instead of 100 streams to 100 hosts, this approach is much more efficient and saves on network resources.

Supporting diverse industry formats and protocols, it also gives scalable, reliable visibility into multiple streams in real-time, which broadcasters can use to efficiently manage complex cloud-based workflows. Live video conferences are another application that would make good use of multicast routing, allowing an efficient stream of communication.

TAG swXtch io Workflow

The complete TAG platform is accessible by a JSON API developed to control all available functionality, from configuration to user interface. It runs on the most recent, up to date COTS hardware and cloud instances in the market, allowing organisations to adapt when changes are required. This means that users’ solutions will not only be delivered quickly but will remain relevant in a dynamic market.

“Together, we are enabling broadcasters to embrace cloud adoption with confidence, unlocking unprecedented agility, efficiency, and innovation in media monitoring,” Patrick McCoy, Head of Product at swXtch.io said. Michael Demb, VP of Product Strategy at TAG Video Systems also noted, “By combining our expertise, we can support customers with coherent, scalable, cost-effective cloud and hybrid monitoring solutions.”

These capabilities were displayed at the last AWS JPEG XS Interop event held in September 2024, where TAG's cloud-based multiviewer monitored JPEG XS multicast streams originating from an on-premises network. The demonstration showed broadcasters’ interest in adopting cloud workflows without compromising on performance, cost or flexibility. www.tagvs.com
