Haivision flakon x2

Haivision has launched the Falkon X2, a mobile 5G video transmitter designed to improve live broadcast quality and reliability. This new product suits broadcasters working in sports, news and live event coverage, particularly in challenging or remote locations.

The Falkon X2 handles 4K UHD video transmission with 10-bit HDR colour accuracy, combining high-quality visuals with ultra-low latency. It uses dual-modem, quad-antenna 5G technology to keep connectivity stable over both public and private 5G networks. The device is engineered to achieve broad coverage even in challenged conditions with efficient data transmission.

Portable and lightweight, the Falkon X2 features a straightforward touchscreen interface and can be mounted on cameras or carried in a backpack, increasing flexibility for field production teams. With its internal rechargeable battery, continuous transmission can be maintained for several hours.

As well as mobility, the transmitter allows remote management of video feeds, enabling master control teams to manage broadcasts from any location, while on-site teams focus on capturing content. The Falkon X2 also has both SDI and HDMI inputs, and supports HEVC and H.264 encoding for flexibility across different broadcasting needs.

The Falkon X2’s is built with professional features like video recording and file forwarding for situations where live streaming isn’t possible, along with intercom and video return functionality to facilitate communication between field teams.

Jean-Marc Racine, Haivision’s Chief Product Officer, noted that the Falkon X2 addresses the growing demand for efficient, high-quality live video transmission over cellular networks. He added that the product is designed to take advantage of 5G infrastructure, supporting broadcasters as they deliver live content from anywhere.

The Falkon X2 will be shown at the 2025 NAB Show, where Haivision representatives can supply further details about its capabilities.   haivision.com
