The Rebel Fleet’s productions using Colorfront’s workflow with Konsol, cleared camera media far earlier than traditional pipelines, simultaneously delivering media to VFX and post teams.
The Rebel Fleet is a production pipeline and services company specialising in modern, scalable workflows for film and television. Working with Colorfront and Konsol technology, The Rebel Fleet implemented a new cloud-native dailies pipeline that removes the delays and inefficiencies in media processing, verification and metadata management.
By combining the Colorfront cloud-based Dailies platform with Konsol production metadata software, which captures and consolidates data from on-set departments, productions were able to clear camera media 18 to 24 hours earlier than traditional pipelines, and simultaneously deliver media and metadata to editorial, VFX and post teams.
Media and metadata can now move together through a unified pipeline. This set-up enables faster turnaround, earlier verification and seamless collaboration across distributed teams.
Supporting Global Productions Without Slowing the Pipeline
Modern productions frequently operate across multiple regions. Camera units may be shooting in one country while editorial teams, VFX vendors, and post-production facilities operate in others.
Traditional dailies workflows were designed around fixed infrastructure, with media transferred to centralised facilities where processing takes place before editorial teams receive the material. At the same time, production metadata is often captured by multiple departments including camera teams, script supervisors, DITs and on-set VFX coordinators.
When these systems are not fully integrated, delays can occur as information is manually consolidated and media moves through multiple storage environments before reaching downstream teams.

Colorfront and The Rebel Fleet approached the challenge by designing a workflow where Dailies processing could take place entirely within the cloud.
Instead of relying on geographically fixed post-production facilities, camera media could be uploaded directly to cloud storage where Colorfront’s dailies processing platform, On-Set Dailies and Express Dailies, could access and process the files immediately.
Because the processing environment resides within the cloud infrastructure itself, operators are able to work directly with media stored in object storage rather than waiting for files to be transferred between local systems.
When network connectivity is strong, transferring camera media to the cloud can occur at speeds comparable to copying files to an on premise storage. Once the media is available in the cloud environment, operators can begin processing tasks immediately without waiting for additional infrastructure steps or physical media transfers. For production teams, the experience is similar to working within a traditional facility, while benefiting from the flexibility and scalability of cloud infrastructure.

In conventional pipelines, operators often need to wait for media verification, storage transfers, or infrastructure approvals before beginning their work. These delays may only last minutes or hours individually, but across a production schedule they accumulate into significant inefficiencies.

Unifying Production Metadata with Konsol
While media delivery is critical, metadata plays an equally important role in modern production pipelines.
Konsol was designed to address the fragmentation of metadata that often occurs across production departments. On set, metadata is generated by multiple sources including camera reports, script notes, DIT systems, lens data, and on-set VFX information.
Konsol gathers and consolidates this data into a unified system where it can be linked directly to the corresponding media.
This consolidated metadata can then be distributed to downstream departments including editorial, VFX vendors, and Finishing teams and Studios.
Because the metadata remains connected to the media throughout the pipeline, teams no longer need to manually reconcile information from multiple sources.
