Grass Valley’s new AMPP Edge Live gives enterprise production teams access to modern live production software and functionality in an agile, scalable multi-vendor environment.

Grass Valley AMPP Edge Live

Production teams working for education, government, corporate communications, houses of worship, live events and media organisations are now under pressure to produce more video content for their audiences, but with the same resources and the same size and level of technical team. Furthermore, existing production systems often lack the scope to scale or to support new workflows without significant additional investment.

Grass Valley’s new AMPP Edge Live is a production foundation with more flexibility, able to grow and adjust as the organisation’s needs change. The system combines Grass Valley hardware, NVIDIA Blackwell GPU acceleration and AMPP OS in a single system, and works as a platform where organisations can deploy the capabilities they need, with options to expand, repurpose and scale services as requirements change.

Meeting Changing Demands

Rather than investing in separate systems that will each address specific production demands in the future, an organisation can build its workflows around a common production platform that evolves through software. New capabilities can be introduced without redesigning the underlying infrastructure. Validated Grass Valley hardware and a unified ownership model (see below) deliver reliability and predictable performance for organisations that work in industries where deadlines are often short and expectations high.

"Production requirements are constantly evolving as audience expectations shift, creating challenges for enterprise organisations whose production infrastructures were not designed for unpredictable workloads," said Jonathan Lyth, Product Director for Enterprise Media, Grass Valley. "Delivering operational agility combined with reliable performance, AMPP Edge Live enables organisations to adapt and scale production capabilities to their operational without adding complexity."

Two Models

The solution is available in two models that serve different production demands. AMPP Edge Live 4000 is for live event production, handled by a single operator. It has the performance to run such applications as Event Producer X, which brings production switching functionality, graphics, audio mixing, recording, streaming, monitoring and production control into a single browser-based interface.

AMPP Edge Live 6000 adds processing performance for more demanding production requirements and supports Sport Producer X. Like Event Producer X, it combines switching, graphics, scoring, timing, data integration and instant replay for sports production.

When using either model, operators can manage workflows that previously required multiple specialist systems and dedicated personnel, all through one production environment.

Lifecycle Management – Unified Ownership Model

Beyond flexibility, AMPP Edge Live simplifies lifecycle management through a unified ownership model. Grass Valley designs, validates and supports AMPP Edge Live as a complete system, managing hardware validation, software compatibility, updates and support through one point of accountability. This removes much of the integration burden associated with multi-vendor environments and makes sure that organisations are prepared for future production requirements.

AMPP Edge Live is built on a short-depth 4 RU chassis with redundant power and modular AMPP I/O cards, which means that connectivity can be tailored to each workflow. It includes enterprise-level security, centralised management and role-based access controls.

By supporting on-premise, hybrid and cloud-connected workflows, it forms part of the Grass Valley Media Universe. Organisations have greater opportunity to focus on content creation during production rather than infrastructure management, without compromising flexibility, reliability or performance.

The L4000 and L6000 appliance models of AMPP Edge Live are both available now in, with SDI 8 and SDI 12 AMPP I/O card options and media storage choices of 2 TB or 4 TB. Grass Valley is showing AMPP Edge Live at InfoComm 2026 in Las Vegas, 17-19 June. www.grassvalley.com
