Limecraft’s new version 2026.6 of its AI-powered production platform extends capabilities for connected media operations. An AI-assisted approach to story editing has also been in development and was previewed at IBC2026 in September.

The release reflects Limecraft's broader strategy for modern media production to connect people, content and existing technology, automate repetitive workflow steps, and then progressively add intelligence where it helps editorial work faster and make more conscious decisions.

"Media organisations don't need more tools," said Maarten Verwaest, CRO of Limecraft. "The real opportunity is to connect the systems they already use, automate the work that slows people down, and then introduce AI where it genuinely assists the creative process. That is the direction we are demonstrating at IBC."

Connecting Media Operations

Media production increasingly spans production teams, post-production facilities, cloud services, editorial systems, storage and external partners. Limecraft works as a secure online platform that connects these different parts of the operation without requiring organisations to replace their existing technology. Version 2026.6 further extends that connected workflow.

The Limecraft Mobile App - available via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store - has all search and navigation capabilities to allow users to review and verify contentcan, and can now bring content directly into a production workspace. Meanwhile, users working across multiple productions gain more precise control over which workspaces generate notifications. The intention is to keep content, people and operational information connected throughout the production process, wherever the work takes place.

Automation

Once workflows are connected, Limecraft can also be used to automate routine tasks between acquisition and delivery. This facility includes actions such as ingest, media preparation, transcription, metadata enrichment, review, approval and delivery, reducing the number of manual handovers and repetitive actions required to move a production forward.

Recent Limecraft releases have progressively expanded these capabilities across studio, factual, reality and other content production environments. "Our aim is not to automate creative essence," Maarten noted. "It is to remove the work related to creativity that consumes valuable time without contributing to the story."

Applying Intelligence to Story Development

Limecraft’s upcoming AI-assisted story editing will allows editors and producers to explore large volumes of recorded material by describing in natural language what they are looking for. It will then be possible to refine the results conversationally, progressively narrowing the material towards the story they want to tell.

In other words, rather than attempting to make editorial decisions autonomously, the AI acts as an assistant, helping users move more quickly from an editorial idea to the relevant source material. This functionality is currently in private beta and is not part of the formal 2026.6 release. www.limecraft.com
