Finepoint Broadcast is replacing its legacy XT3 servers and standardized on EVS’s XT-VIA live production platform, giving them the flexibility for super-motion setups and UHD productions.

Finepoint Broadcast – a dry-hire service provider to the broadcasting market, located in Surrey southwest of London – is replacing the last of its legacy XT3 servers and standardizing its fleet on EVS’s XT-VIA live production platform. Finepoint have now placed a multi-million euro order with EVS for 25 XT-VIA servers.

EVS’s primary product, the XT-VIA servers are the foundation of the company’s LiveCeption system and workflow, built for speed, reliability and scalability for live productions. The servers also increase processing power and channel density to above typical levels, giving the flexibility needed for super-motion setups and UHD productions.

SMPTE 2110, PTP and NMOS Compliance

To ease deployment in most environments, the servers’ hybrid SDI/IP connectivity is fully compliant with SMPTE 2110, PTP and NMOS standards for interoperability. XT-VIA directly integrates with the most recent iteration of the LSM-VIA replay system, and other tools like XtraMotion that help access the range of value in content. Using generative AI, XtraMotion enhances video with visual effects such as super slow-motion replays from any type of camera, cinematic shallow depth-of-field, and the elimination of motion blur.

XT-VIA supports multiple video formats including UHD 4K and 1080p, and can upscale 1080p video to UHD 4K. Over 370 validated I/O configurations are available for use in XT-VIA workflows, tailored to specific needs, from the same server. The server allows simultaneous use of both the new XNet-VIA media sharing network and file-based networks, resulting in a guaranteed bandwidth for playout and content sharing to external devices.

Live Media Sharing

An ethernet network, XNet-VIA allows faster, more efficient live media sharing between XS-VIA and XT-VIA servers and, ultimately, future live production tools coming onto the VIA platform. As a network component that is already heavy-load- and field-tested, it supports continuous high bandwidth streams for collaboration in highlights editing and content sharing.

Supporting many different super motion cameras, ranging from 2x up to 16x, XT-VIA delivers very accurate, detailed super-slow-motion replays. Currently ready for HDR broadcasting, and supporting HDR at all resolutions, it makes HDR-SDR conversions possible from the XT-VIA’s embedded Multiviewer, a feature that means investment in further monitoring is unnecessary.
